What If Becoming Easier Costs Me My Humanity? There are some things I’ve been trying to understand for a long time now, and the truth is, I’m no longer sure where one issue ends and another begins. What started as a sober way of living eventually became a sober way of identifying. For a long…
When Gary Chapman first introduced the concept of the Five Love Languages, I don’t think he imagined a world where couples would send each other TikToks at midnight or measure affection in fire emojis. The original love languages—Words of Affirmation, Acts of Service, Receiving Gifts, Quality Time, and Physical Touch—are timeless. But we live in…
Marriage is not a static experience. It is a dynamic, evolving bond between two individuals, each with their own rhythms, breakthroughs, and setbacks. At its best, it is a sacred space where both partners grow side by side, encouraging each other through seasons of transformation. But what happens when one partner evolves—mentally, emotionally, even physically—while…
Each year, autumn arrives like a poem — golden light pouring through the trees, leaves surrendering one by one. There’s beauty in the release. The holidays follow, wrapping us in their warmth and glitter. It’s one of my favorite times of the year. But then — it’s January. And for me, January means something very…
You ever find yourself in a conversation—not to listen, but to win? I used to live for that feeling. The debate. The back-and-forth. The point where someone would finally go quiet and I could chalk up another silent victory. I was raised to believe in strong convictions, in knowing right from wrong, and in defending…
I recently finished a book that I absolutely could not put down. I read the whole thing in less than 48 hours. The story was about a woman from 1970 who lost her husband in the Vietnam war. Shortly after being informed of his death she learns she is pregnant. During her pregnancy, her doctor…
There is a particular kind of overwhelm that comes with owning a small business right now. You’re told that your website matters. You keep hearing about SEO and how much it matters. And somehow, you’re also expected to understand how all of it works — quickly, confidently, and without wasting money along the way. Most business…
You ever look around and think, “Where would I be without her?”Her — the one who makes you laugh when life gets heavy. The one who reminds you to fix your hair and wear the outfit you actually love. The one who watches your back so closely, she sees the threat before you do. You might not…
“The connections between and amongst women are the most feared, the most problematic, and the most potentially transforming force on the planet.” —Adrienne Rich After recently finishing the book Weyward by Emilia Hart, I found the Adrienne Rich quote in the author’s Acknowledgements note. Adrienne Rich’s words are both a warning and a call. In…
In a World Where Everything Looks Real, Proof Is the New Marketing Currency We’ve entered an era where one of the first questions people silently ask isn’t “Is this good?” — it’s “Is this even real?” AI-generated graphics are nearly indistinguishable from photography. Avatars can sell services they’ve never delivered. Reels, shorts, and promotional videos…
What If Your Website Brought You Five More Leads a Month? Many small businesses hesitate to make a small business copywriting investment, especially when budgets feel tight. Let me ask you something honest: If your website brought you just five more leads a month, how quickly would that cover the cost of hiring a copywriter?…
Why Small Business Matters: The Heart and Humanity Behind What You Do There’s a funny thing that happens when you go from the corporate world to small-business ownership:Everyone assumes it’s a glow-up. Freedom. Flexibility. Creativity. Your own schedule. But what they don’t tell you — what most people won’t tell you — is that building…
Well, here I am. Forty. Five. Years. Old. That’s four and a half decades of living, loving, learning, forgetting where my glasses are, and finding them on top of my head, where the expensive chic sunglasses used to sit. I welcome myself to mid-life. Not the crisis, mind you. No. The moment. The mid-life moment—where…
Ah, the group chat—our modern-day campfire, town hall, confessional booth, and comedy club all rolled into one chaotic thread of GIFs, unsolicited opinions, and half-baked weekend plans. Forget email. Ignore the phone call. The group chat is where real life unfolds now. It’s where birthdays are remembered (at the crack of dawn), where memes become…
Since I started writing full time, I found a couple sites online geared towards writers, that give a “Daily Prompt” to get the creative juices flowing. The most recent one I did was really fun and I wanted to share it. The only requirement was that your story begin with “The room is unfamiliar. I…
Sundays is the perfect time to ground yourself with “3 things I’m thankful for.” The pace softens. The world quiets down. And if we allow ourselves to be present, even just for a few minutes, we can reconnect with what’s working, what’s good, what’s true. For me, Sundays have become a ritual of gratitude—not just as…
What does it actually mean to release what no longer serves you? If something repeatedly disrupts your peace, it doesn’t belong in your life. This could be a person, a job, a commitment, or even a mindset. If every time you engage with it you feel anxious, stressed, or resentful—that’s your body waving a red…
Where do you feel most like yourself? It’s a simple question—but one that most of us don’t ask often enough: We spend so much time fulfilling roles—partner, parent, employee, friend—that we rarely pause to check in with our core. But the truth is, we all have a space, a moment, or a practice that brings…
The Doom Loop Isn’t Drama — It’s a System Overload December burnout is real — and more common than people realize. This month creates the perfect storm for a mental spiral. Not because something is wrong with us, but because everything around us accelerates at the exact time our brains most need rest. The pressure…
The Weight of the Year-End Mental Load There’s something about December that makes everything feel overwhelmingly heavier, even when life on the surface looks the same. It’s the month when the unfinished parts of the year rise to the top — not loudly, but persistently. The loose ends, the goals we meant to reach, the…
Before We Knew Too Much Recently, I came across a social media post featuring Charlie Brown asking Snoopy, “What do you miss most about the world?” Snoopy replies simply yet profoundly, “I miss the way I viewed the world before I knew too much about it.” This gentle exchange immediately resonated with me—and probably with…
Re-Entering the World There is a particular kind of exhaustion that doesn’t come from physical labor or even long hours. It comes from the quiet strain of being mentally and emotionally “on” all day long. I started a new full-time job this week, and within the first four days I noticed something happening inside my…
There’s nothing more disorienting than realizing the person who weaponizes your vulnerability is someone you share blood with. I recently had to put up a peace wall with a family member—a boundary, hard and final. This person has a habit of getting drunk and waxing philosophical about everyone else’s flaws. They frame it as deep…
Family Life: Love, Support & Connection Start at Home Family life is where our truest selves are tested and tended. It’s the first place we learn what love looks like, how communication can heal or harm, and how trust and respect shape every relationship under our roof. When a home is built on everyday support,…
1,000 days ago, I almost didn’t survive the night. Today, I’m 1,000 days sober. To work a program every day for 1,000 days, where the actual fundamental practice is one day at a time, is hard. I honestly don’t know where I’d be if I hadn’t decided to quit drinking. Dead or alone seemed to…
Maybe you don’t say it out loud, but you think it: I’ve already ruined my kids. They’ll never forgive me. I used to believe that too. I thought the damage I caused during the years I was drinking had carved permanent scars into my children’s lives. The yelling, the ultimatums, the punishments delivered with little…
I created so many storms. My addiction to alcohol was a lot like what I would imagine surviving a tornado would be. I’ve never even been close to a tornado, but I know I WAS ONE for a very long time. When I would drink while being inside a full-on manic episode in my head,…
No one warns you about the recalibration. They tell you motherhood will change you. They tell you you’ll love deeper than you ever thought possible. They tell you the nights are long, and the years are short. What they don’t tell you is this— When your children hurt, you don’t get to clock out of the pain. There…
You Can Say It… You’re Kind Of Ready to Be Done You love your kids. You’ve given everything to raising them — the snacks, the lifts, the late-night chats, the never-ending calendar of “Mom, can you just…” moments. You wouldn’t trade it. But if you’re really honest, something else is quietly rising up in you:…
Dear Mama, This is for you. Whether you’re rocking your newborn in the quiet dark, waiting up for your teenager to come home, or simply sitting with the memory of your children now grown—this letter is yours. Because you may not always feel it, but what you do, who you are, echoes farther than you…

I am Authentically Angela
Welcome to my corner of the internet! I’m Angela, and I’m here to share my journey of resilience, transformation, and hope.
Life has thrown me my fair share of challenges. I’ve been married, waged war in a nasty divorced and married again. I’ve been a single mother as well as a fiercely driven career woman. I’ve raised two children into adulthood and am currently in progress on the third. My oldest is twenty-two, my second is about to be twenty and the youngest is eleven. I’ve spent exactly half my life at this point as a mother, and boy have we been through it.
Navigating the ups and downs of parenting while rebuilding my life was no small feat, but it taught me the power of love, strength, and perseverance. In the midst of this journey, I found my soulmate and best friend in my husband of fourteen years! We’ve been married for nine of them. Not too long ago, I faced profound loss when I lost both of my parents. Their absence left a void that felt insurmountable, but it also ignited a desire within me to honor their memory by living a life filled with purpose and gratitude.
For many years, I struggled with alcohol, using it as a way to cope with the pain and uncertainty. But I made the courageous decision to get sober on February 1, 2023 and that choice changed everything. Embracing sobriety has been one of the most liberating experiences of my life. It has allowed me to reconnect with my true self and not only be the mother and wife my family deserves, but also to embrace my roots as a writer and put my gift to work.
Through this blog, I hope to share my stories, lessons learned, and insights gained along the way. My goal is to inspire others who may be facing their own struggles, reminding them that change is possible, we are far more resilient than we actually believe, and we are not alone on this journey. My intention is to provide a place that serves up content that is relatable, funny, profound and thought provoking.
